An afternoon at Tru Yoga
A portrait afternoon for yoga teachers at Tru Yoga.
Your practice. Your body. Your portrait.
01 · What this is
Eight yoga teachers. Eight individual portrait windows of about thirty minutes each, one participant per window.
You come to Tru Yoga for your own portrait time. Around that time there is an afternoon — other teachers, food and tea, conversation, and no reason to hurry off once your session is done.
The afternoon belongs to the group. The portrait time belongs to you.
02 · The portrait session
Bring one simple athletic or practice outfit. Everything else comes from you — pose, movement, posture, gesture, expression, and how you decide to occupy the frame.
The photography is collaborative. There is no fixed shot list waiting for you. We work through it together, looking at what is happening as it happens, and you can choose a playlist for your own session if you'd like one.
We look. We make photographs. We look again.
03 · Your photographs
After your portrait, Jay makes the edit first and prepares a small private gallery containing only the photographs he has selected to offer. You choose your three from that curated set.
Your finished photographs are yours to use for personal and professional self-promotion — your website, social accounts, studio bio, press, and similar uses described in the photography agreement.
About two weeks after the session, you'll receive an online gallery to make your selections. Your three finished photographs will be delivered within four weeks of receiving your selections.
If you decide you'd like more after seeing your gallery, additional finished photographs and the complete edited set are available.

04 · The afternoon
The day is built to be relaxed and communal, with a real break in the middle — somewhere to sit, talk, watch, and not be hurried through your own session or anyone else's.
Come ready to make a portrait, have a cup of tea, and stay for a chat.
Food and tea are provided by Tru Yoga.
05 · The shape of the day
Four before the break, four after.

06 · Who you're spending the afternoon with
Frame 05
Vanessa · supplied square portrait
Vanessa Airey is a yoga teacher and owner of Tru Yoga in Rochester, New York. Her relationship with Tru began first as a student and grew into teaching and stewardship of the studio. Her work is grounded in creating a welcoming place for people to practice in their own bodies and on their own terms.

Jay · supplied square portrait
Jay Muhlin is a Rochester-based photographer, artist, educator, and founder of Lemon Juice. His photography grows from about 30 years of work across art, editorial, visual content, museum, and institutional photography. That experience shapes a portrait practice built around attention, collaboration, lighting, editing, and making photographs with rather than simply of people.

07 · Price and place
Bring one simple athletic or practice outfit. Everything else is taken care of at the studio.
09 · Registration
Two steps Live test
Reserve one of the eight portrait appointments here. Calendly holds the time and records your contact details and photography permission; payment is completed separately through Tru Yoga.
Step 1
Eight appointments, one person each. Availability updates as times are reserved.
Times still open are shown in the scheduler below.
If your plans change: Reservations are non-refundable. If you can't make your time, let us know — we'll do our best to put what you paid toward a future Lemon Juice portrait session.
Telling us early also means the appointment can be released to someone else.
Step 2 · Required
Your portrait time is reserved — your registration is not complete yet.
Complete payment through Tru Yoga to finish your registration. Payment goes directly to Tru, where Vanessa handles the studio side of the afternoon.
If Tru is your studio, whether you practice or teach there, choose Tru community · $125. Everyone else, choose General · $150.
Calendly reserves your time. Tula payment completes your registration.
After payment, you’re all set.
The session and the finished photographs are the same at either rate.

Photographs and the portrait appointment
Your session already includes three finished photographs chosen from Jay's curated edit. If you want more after seeing your gallery:
The complete edited set is also available; pricing will be included with your gallery.

Nine open items. The registration architecture is now decided — what remains is switching it on and answering the things this page still can't honestly write.
Switch the Calendly event on
FRAMING YOUR PRACTICE — OCTOBER 10 exists but is inactive. Nothing books and nothing reads as available until it is active.
Set the Calendly redirect to /payment/
After booking, Calendly must send people to the /payment/ page on this site — otherwise step 2 is never reached.
Add the Calendly token in Netlify
Environment variable only — the exact name is in the v0.9.8 change note. Without it the eight-slot Available / Taken strip stays neutral and the scheduler alone shows availability. The site still works.
Decide how unpaid reservations are released
Calendly holds the time; Tula holds the money. Someone has to check the two against each other and cancel appointments that never paid.
Decide where the participant agreement is accepted
Best home is a required Calendly booking question, so acceptance is captured with the appointment rather than after payment.
Confirm the missed-time policy with Tru
Jay's language is now published in Registration: non-refundable, with a best effort to carry the value into a future Lemon Juice session. Because payment is taken by Tru rather than Lemon Juice, Vanessa needs to agree to how that value is honored on the money side.
Add waitlist behavior
The sold-out and waitlist states are designed but have no destination or process behind them.
Confirm parking, arrival, and accessibility
Likely belongs in the booking confirmation email rather than this page — but it has to live somewhere.
Approve final photographs
The crow hero, reclining feature photograph, delivery images 01–03, Jay's portrait, Vanessa's portrait, and the social preview are installed.
